How Can You Get a Ticket to The Masters?

from: www.mastersgolf.quick-facts.info

If you are holding a ticket to the Masters tournament, you're lucky. The Masters Golf Tournament is the most prestigious golf tournament in the history of golf. It attracts a veritable 'Who's Who' from the golfing community from all over the world. It is not only a golf tournament, but a major social event as well. If you would like to attend and think it is simple to buy a Masters ticket, think again! The Masters golf tournament tickets are scarce.

The Masters golf tournament is a week long event starting on Monday, ending on the second Sunday in April each year. The lush greens and fairways are manicured to perfection. Thousands of azalea bushes are in full bloom on the edge of fairways and golf course grounds making it an absolute paradise of nature and beauty. All this combined with the Southern US's reputation for friendly hospitality makes The Masters a favorite for all golf fans.

The tournament holds practice rounds for the players on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Masters tickets to the Practice Rounds are sold to the public but go on sale a year in advance. They can be ordered through the Masters website.

Masters tickets to the actual tournament days have not been on sale to the public since 1972. There was such a demand that the Augusta National Golf Club started a waiting list that year. The waiting list became so long that it was closed in 1978.

Then, in the year 2000, the waiting list was reopened but has long since closed again. Not only can you not get a ticket from the tournament operation, you can not be put on a waiting list for one.

The only way to get the Masters golf tournament tickets is to look for ads from current ticket owners in your local paper or online. You can find masters tickets on Ebay or tickets being sold from ticket outlets. Be prepared to pay a lot of money and shop early. The longer you wait, the higher the price. Right now, at the end of January, there are tickets for the four day tournament selling anywhere from $6,000 - $8,000 USD.

Once you get a ticket and get to Augusta, the next chore is finding a parking space. The residents of Augusta that surround the Augusta National Golf Club provide parking in their yards for the tournament because parking in the club lot is first come, first served, and limited. Again, the earlier you get there, the more parking spaces will be available.

The people of Augusta are used to opening their yards and other parking spaces to the golf crowd. Be prepared to pay $20 or more for space within walking distance of the tournament.

The Masters golf tournament is an experience you will not forget. Tickets to the Masters are very hard to come by but are available if you look hard and plan ahead. Once at the tournament, you are required to wear the ticket, called a badge, in the open where tournament officials can see it. The badge has a safety pin type clip on it for this purpose.

Since a Masters ticket or badge is so hard to come by, they have become collectibles. You'll see you will see them for sale on Ebay and other sites.
